Montage

A couple of years ago my studio flooded. Some of my paintings (my babies) that took months to finish got ruined. I was devastated! As much as the physical damage affected me, the emotional effect was harder on me to see my hours of work and thoughts damped and helpless. I did not have neither the heart nor the guts to put them to rest. I decided to salvage as much as possible and bring them back to life. I decided to create a collection made out of my recovered painted canvases using the collage technique with an oil base. “Montage” is a proof of what Confucius once said: “Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” I saw so much beauty in the scraps because I know what the heart of the original paintings held.
